Silk Roads: Art + Music was a 10-week program offered to students at University High School, a UCLA TIE-INS partner school. The program explored the history and culture of Silk-Road era Dunhuang, China and its many suprising connections to modern-day Los Angeles. Students learned about the art of the Mogao Caves, musical exchange on the Silk Road, and key elements of musical and artistic practice.
The students were challenged to apply what they learned about the Silk Roads, as well as visual and musical arts practice, to create something that expresses their own artistic vision.
