Since 2009 UCLA has served as the host site for the 10-day Chinese Guest Teacher Summer Institute, a program that has helped prepare hundreds of Mandarin teachers from China to teach in school districts across the United States for 1-3 years. This program is a partnership between the College Board, Startalk, Hanban, NCSSFL, and the UCLA Confucius Institute and our campus partners including UCLA's Graduate School of Education and Information Studies (GSEIS). The Guest Teachers are recruited and trained by language specialists from across China and the United States.
In 2015, 150 teachers from China recieved training at UCLA. During their stay in Los Angeles, the teachers taught over 200 local K-12 students during a 4-day program hosted by University High School, a UCLA TIE-INS Partnership Schools.
