The China Global Arts Fellowship (CGA) is a 1-year post-graduate program offering UCLA graduates holding bachelors, masters, or doctoral degrees, who possess background in the arts or an arts-related field, the chance to live, study, and gain professional experience in Shanghai, one of the world’s most vibrant global arts centers. This highly-selective program responds to the increasing importance of collaborations between creative professionals in China and the US -- from blockbuster movies and pop music to experimental art and theater -- by giving UCLA alumni the opportunity to acquire valuable work experience and professional connections in their field while learning a critical world language.
Blending classroom instruction and experiential learning, the China Global Arts Fellowship helps UCLA arts graduates become part of the creative currents flowing between China and California. Fellows live and study at Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s School of International Education, located in the heart of Shanghai’s beautiful French Concession. Each week CGA Fellows will have 10 hours of Mandarin language study and 16 hours working as interns working alongside MOCA Shanghai’s international staff on a wide range of interdisciplinary public and educational programs for MOCA and its partner institutions across China. CGA Fellows also help develop a series of public lectures and discussions featuring international artists, scholars, and professionals that will provide additional opportunities for study and networking.
Applications for the China Global Arts Fellowship will be available in the spring. Please check this page for updates.
